January Collectible: Elvis the Penguin
Hey there, SmallWorlds citizens. Here’s the cool monthly collectible for January – I’d like to introduce a special little guy to you: Elvis the Penguin!
It will probably come as no surprise to you at all just where his musical preferences lie. Yes, our Penguin friend is a huge Presley fan. When he visited us at the Chronicle Head office the other day, he absolutely wowed us all with his encyclopedic knowledge of The King’s music. Sadly, this little Elvis hasn’t quite mastered the famous Presley pelvic thrust, but Elvis the Penguin has a really cute animated penguin walk, so you’ll just love wearing him in-world!
As you’ll no doubt know, Elvis Presley was one of the first to perform the pelvic thrust move on stage, and in the 1950’s it was really quite controversial. Due to this, he would normally be shown (as seen on his third appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1956) from the waist up only on TV!

You might find that wearing your very own Elvis the Penguin inspires you to randomly utter lines from various Elvis Presley songs. Yes, we’re predicting crowds of Elvi in January all doing their cute penguin walk while doing a group rendition of «All Shook Up«. Sounds hilarious, doesn’t it? Maybe someone will post shots on the forum («The King» lives!! – heh heh!).
Since our Penguin Elvis was obviously such a fan, we all wondered just what his favorite Elvis Presley song might be. In fact, we had a little bet on it here at the Chronicle… Kent suggested «Blue Suede Shoes», Honesty suggested «You Ain’t Nothing But a Hound Dog» and Harris Pilton felt sure it was going to be «Jail House Rock». As it turned out, it was none of these. Elvis the Penguin loves a little-known song of Mr Presley’s which goes by the name of «I Want to be Free». Awwww! I must say I felt like giving the little guy a hug after reading the lyrics! You can Google ‘em up for yourself if you want to see what I mean.
